Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services is experiencing an increase in call volume, and will be modifying their operations to help mitigate the situation. Effective immediately, the following changes will be made:
• All patients will now be transported to the closest appropriate facility, as opposed to choosing their own transport destination.
• If deemed appropriate and beneficial by first responders on the scene, patients may be transported to the hospital in vehicles other than ambulances (ie- Community Health Paramedic units, fire engines, etc) on a case by case basis.
